How Koura became Corda
Both Dave and Corey worked for Rich the Builder. Richie was a good boss — hard working, organised. When he retired, they went their separate ways.
Corey ended up working for one builder. Dave ended up with another. Neither was the same.
They bumped into each other one day, had a powwow about how terrible their employers were, and had a laugh about it. One of them said: "We should start our own company."
And that was it.
The name came next. Koura — that's Corey + Dave. Once it got shortened a bit in everyday use, Corda stuck.
The Founders
Dave
Dave's been building in Central Otago for over 20 years. He still gets on the tools. When he's not on site, he's making sure the job runs right. He's the one who'll tell you straight whether your budget matches your plans — before you spend money on drawings.
Corey
Corey's the same. Hands-on, no drama. He's been building alongside Dave for 14 years and knows how to keep a project moving. Show up on time, do what you say, crack on with it. That's how he works.
What Drives Us
Quality Workmanship
We don't accept anything that's not done to code. Tradesman-like finish. Done right first time. If something's wrong, we fix it — we don't leave it there.
Transparency
Full transparency from the get-go and throughout the project. Open book management. You'll always know where things stand.
Reliability
Very rarely, unless it's weather related, do we not hit our scheduling. If we say we'll be there, we'll be there. Even if it means pushing in a weekend.

We manage the whole project — house, landscaping, everything. We don't just manage it. We do the work too.
